What are the responsibilities and job description for the Winder (AC/DC Electric Motors) position at Louis Allis?
Louis Allis manufactures industrial electric motors for some of the most demanding applications worldwide. Louis Allis is currently looking for 1st shift winders from 6 : 00 am to 2 : 30 pm to join the team at its facility in Warrior, Alabama.
Job Summary : Rewind various kinds of electro-mechanical equipment and perform electrical testing of motors.
Work Performed :
- Perform a variety of cleaning and stripping operations to prepare AC and DC motor parts for rewinding.
- Perform a variety of operations to wind coils, insulate, insert coils, and connect standard AC stators.
- Perform a variety of operations to wind coils, insulate, insert coils, and connect DC armatures and field frames.
- Operate specialized repair and / or testing equipment including but not limited to burnout ovens, bake ovens, grinders, cranes, forklifts, dip tanks, VPI systems as well as various handheld power and non-power tools.
- Perform Level C field service work at the customer site.
- Observe all safety procedures and use personal protective gear.
- Maintain housekeeping in assigned areas.
- Understand machine lubrication, maintenance, and proper operation.
- Perform electrical AC and DC motor tests using various equipment including but not limited to Meggers, hi-pot, OHM meters, bar-to-bar tester, and AC and DC test panels. Testing is to be performed upon receipt of unit(s) and as required additionally. Testing for baseline statistics and proper design performance upon work scope completion.
- Perform shaft vibration analysis.
- Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by the shift leadman, plant manager, and / or president.
- Requires periods of standing up to 3-4 hours at a time.
- Ability to lift 30 lbs.
