Aquatics Admission and Concession (Part-time)
Job Description:
The employee is in this position to serve the public in the capacity of pool admissions, pass acceptance, answering the telephone, food preparation, and sales of food and beverages. The employee should help to create a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and promotes safety in accordance with LCPRT policies and procedures. Builds positive relationships with patrons and program participants through effective listening and verbal skills and creatively finds ways to connect them to one another and the community. The employee should possess an ability to get along well with citizens of all ages and to respond well to supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations.
- Knowledge of safety procedures, rules and regulations for the swimming pool facility
- Skill in handling money and working with people
- Ability to communicate clearly with patrons.
- Perform First Aid when needed
- Complete written reports.
- Ability to present a professional, positive, and helpful attitude always when interacting with County employees, co-workers, and the public.
- Exhibits an understanding of functions as a “team player”.
- Requires strong interpersonal skills.
Essential Functions:
- Helps ensure proper rules and regulations, including safety rules, are followed by employees and swimmers, and is responsible for reporting any safety hazards to the Pool Manager immediately upon discovery.
- Responsible for maintaining appropriate receipts for swimmers.
- Courteously and efficiently staffs admissions window to admit paying swimmers and pass holders and answer questions of the public.
- Receives payments for pool admissions and concessions, enters payments into cash register and makes correct change, if applicable.
- Answers telephone takes accurate messages and assists the public as needed.
- Prepares food in a safe and clean manner and maintains a high level of cleanliness and safety with food preparation equipment and dispensers.
- Keeps the concessions area floor, counters and equipment clean and free of clutter.
- Assists in cleaning and maintaining the pool area and locker rooms daily.
- Notifies Pool Manager when food items and supplies are running low and assists in inventory management.
- Performs additional related duties as deemed necessary or as required, including potential emergency assistance as directed by Pool Manager or Assistant Manager.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Environmental: Work is typically performed in an outdoor setting. The department (facility) is open to the public Monday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., however, on numerous occasions you may be asked to come in to work as early at 8:00 a.m. and/or stay as late as 11:00 p.m. for swim lessons or extended pool programs. This position will require a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the Department and the County to include evening, weekend and occasional holiday hours.
- Physical Effort: Heavy Work: Must be able to regularly lift up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Will regularly stand and walk.
- Hazards: The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; outside weather conditions and high heat.
Special Conditions & Requirements:
Must be willing to submit to a criminal background check.
- Must consent to drug testing consistent with Louisa County’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
