Title: Community Relations Specialist

Report To: Vice President (VP), Development and Marketing
Duties include but are not limited to:
Communication and Relationship Building:
- Maintain relationships with community members, businesses, and other non-profits to promote community engagement.
- Serve as the organization’s ambassador and share its vision with the community.
- Attend relevant events and activities to represent the company and build strong relationships with key community members.
- Under the direction of the VP, Development and Marketing, create and develop campaigns to promote the Louisiana Association for the Blind’s mission, products, services, and events.
- Plan and implement internal communications related to volunteer events, community relations activities, and public affairs events.
Marketing Responsibilities:
- Implement social media strategies unique to each platform including Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, X, TikTok, and YouTube.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of communication and campaigns.
- Answer questions from the community members, event ticketholders, customers, and donors in a timely and professional manner.
- Develop and manage special projects as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have good presentation and negotiation skills.
- Must be able to use social media platforms, customer relationship management platforms, and graphic design platforms to promote the organization and enhance the company’s online profile.
- Must be able to plan, coordinate, and execute projects with limited supervision under the direction of the VP, Development and Marketing.
- Proficient with graphic design, social media, and email marketing software.
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite or related software.
- Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or related field.
- Must have three years’ experience in marketing, public relations, fundraising, or communication.
- Successful completion of courses in advertising, business administration, fundraising, public relations, public speaking, or creative technical writing.
- Some nights and weekends will be required.
