Louisiana Bridge Builders (“LBB”) is designing and building the new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana (USA) for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD). LBB will also be responsible for the reconstruction of interstate highway, various structures, ramps, and approaches for a 5.5 mile stretch between I-210 West End and Ryan Street.

POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY
The Quantity Surveyor is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders by working closely with clients, contractors, architects, and engineers to ensure the effective cost management of projects from the initial design stage through to completion. This role involves the preparation of accurate cost estimates, managing project budgets, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring the project is completed within budget and time constraints.
LOCATION
This position is based in Lake Charles, LA.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates the quantity takeoff for the project.
- Coordinates engineering activities to meet the company’s technical objectives related to design and construction.
- Supports the team to deliver a successful project on time, on budget, within company requirements and client obligations from a technical point of view in safety, health, environment, and quality.
- Supports the Technical Office Manager in administering the designers’ contract.
- Distributes information and technical documentation to third parties working on the project to ensure that the work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, design instructions.
- Gives takeoff support to the construction activities.
- Responsible for the quantity takeoff tracking and management of the project.
- Coordinates with Client and other third parties to resolve high-level technical issues to obtain final approval of the executed works.
- Identifies, manages, and assists in the preparation of proposals for design alternatives that are beneficial for the project.
- Tracks all quantity takeoffs for the project through his team.
- Provides contractual support from a technical point of view to other project contracts: contracting support, technical interface with specialized subcontractors, technical disputes, etc.
- Identifies technical risks and participates in the preparation of risk reports.
- Participates in the review of the Project budget forecasts, providing the necessary technical part for its realization.
- Support in the execution stage (project assistance team to resolve nonconformities, RFI with designers and unexpected events during construction).
- Advises/participates in the formalization of contracts with engineering companies.
- Guarantees the correct transmission of design information to the entire project team.
- Collaborates on the technical claims of the project.
- Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
At a minimum, the Quantity Surveyor must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Quantity Survey, or equivalent along with 7 years engineering related experience with a focus on roadworks and bridges and proven knowledge of MicroStation OR high school diploma, or equivalent, and along with 11 years engineering related experience with a focus on roadworks and bridges and proven knowledge of MicroStation. Experience in Design Build Contracts is preferred.
