Job Overview
The Louisiana Community and Technical College System seeks an exceptional Enrollment/Advising Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Enrollment Management & Student Affairs department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service, counseling students, and coordinating with campus departments to resolve student issues.
About the Role
This is a full-time, unclassified administrative/staff position that requires a strong understanding of higher education policies and procedures. You will be responsible for representing SOWELA at area school and community events, collaborating with representatives from various campus departments, and developing quality improvement methods.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide consistent and accurate advising information to students through various channels, ensuring all disseminated information is consistent across departments.
* Collaborate with the Instructional Site Coordinator to assist with student life events and plan development of materials designed to attract quality students to SOWELA Technical Community College.
* Assist in the planning and development of enrollment services processes, provide suggestions to enhance the delivery of information provided in person, via phone, and email.
* Administer and proctor testing as needed, including the Accuplacer, HiSET, and other exams.
* Perform general office and administrative functions as assigned, maintaining confidentiality of records and information (FERPA Compliance).
* Maintain knowledge of the College's policies and procedures, grounds, facilities, registration process, and all services provided at the College.
Requirements
* Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
* One year of experience in an educational setting and/or customer service required; one year of experience in a higher education setting within Enrollment Management and/or Student Affairs preferred.
* Ability to work in a collaborative team environment, demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and show close attention to details.
* Proficiency in standard office equipment, networked personal computers, and software applications, including Microsoft Office.
