Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise PN programs, medical assistant, patient care tech, and nurse assistant programs, PN Program Coordinators, and related full time and adjunct instructors at all LDCC campus locations
- Engage with local nursing community to determine specific needs to ensure all programs remain relevant to current demand and standards. Ensure appropriate mentoring and support for new coordinators and instructors—including adjunct. Assists with all faculty evaluation activities as required.
- Responsible for ensuring that appropriate Louisiana State Practical Nursing Board reports are submitted in conjunction with PN Program Coordinators and faculty
- Collaborate with Campus Directors in assessing instructor effectiveness
- Make recommendations for personnel actions, course offerings, course scheduling, and program development
- Responsible for credit program oversight along with administrative operations including faculty and staff development and evaluation, workload, sequencing of courses and/or clinical sites, and coordination of the program advisory committees while keeping the Dean of Allied Health and Nursing continuously informed and involved.
- In collaboration with the Dean and ASN faculty colleagues, participate in assessment, and institutional effectiveness processes including but not limited to annual reports and accreditation reports; and maintains all necessary components of program accreditation.
- Collaborates with colleagues and participates in student recruitment, retention, advising, and other initiatives to support students.
- Maintains current knowledge of trends, best practices, and educational methodologies in nursing. Serves as a resource and professional model for faculty, staff, and students within the program and a collegial partner to colleagues at the College.
- Ensure all locations are following LDH regulations.
- Participates in all shared governance activities as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Allied Health and Nursing, and LDCC leadership.
Required Education:
The qualified candidate must be a State Licensed Registered Nurse with minimum of an associate degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (bachelor’s degree preferred), ten years nursing experience, and possess extensive knowledge of Louisiana State Practical Nursing Board standards and requirements. Must have at least three years of nursing experience in a hospital setting and three years of practical nursing teaching experience within a higher education environment. CPR certification required. Excellent computer skills including excel spreadsheet and grant writing experience are also required.
