The purpose of this position is to perform essential administrative duties in support of the day-to-day operations, administration, and maintenance of the Indian Creek Recreation Area, which is operated by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry. The Indian Creek Lake and Recreation Area encompasses a 2,250-acre lake, 100 acres of developed recreation facilities and a 250-acre primitive camping area. The Indian Creek Recreation Area is located within the Alexander State Forest and has over 300,000 annual visitors. The incumbent of this position demonstrates superior seamless customer service.

- Performs customer service to a high degree of excellence.
- Operates the welcome station (fee station) at park entrance.
- Registers overnight guests.
- Collects fees for day use customers and overnight guests.
- Makes, coordinates and verifies reservations; ensures all guests remit proper payment.
- Answers questions and provides information about accommodations and amenities, policies, procedures, laws, fees, general tourist
- information, and other applicable information; enforces rules when necessary.
- Opens and/or closes park office.
- Provides visitors with information concerning points of interest, travel routes, historical and natural features, and site activities.
- Advises Park Manager and/or Assistant Director of LAFA of any and all problems as they arise.
- Performs various administrative tasks such as answering telephone calls, processing incoming mail, etc.
- Sorts, files, and distributes general correspondence, human resources memoranda, e-mails, and faxed documents.
- Maintains supply of forms, pamphlets, and visitor service materials as needed.
- Operates general office equipment to include computer, copier, fax, calculator, etc.
- Serves as back up time administrator and as such compiles, verifies, and enters employee time records and payroll corrections in
- LaGov HCM; processes the necessary time administration reports and maintains documents in accordance with the LOAF record
- retention schedule.
- Enters data into computer system and maintains employee time and attendance records.
- May compile data and/or prepare daily and/or weekly revenue and visitation reports.
- Assists in completing daily bank deposits, when directed; ensures proper documentation is submitted for reconciliation.
- Assists in the purchasing of materials and supplies, as needed.
- Assists in submission of work orders for maintenance repairs.
- Posts on social media; ensures information is professional, accurate, and grammatically correct.
- Inspects parks and park facilities to ensure proper care and maintenance of property and to make recommendations regarding
- needed improvements or measures necessary to protect the natural environment and ensure safety of visitors.
- Assists with and/or performs maintenance on grounds, buildings, and equipment (i.e., clean restrooms, clean up camp sites, removal
- of trash, etc.).
- Performs regular overall site inspections.
- Maintains cleanliness of fee station area.
- Ensures the facility is in a constant state of readiness for special events and guests.
- Educational/Outreach Programs
- Conducts educational programs for the guests during set times, or as needed.
- Ensures equipment used for programs is maintained and returned in working order.
- Coordinates with manager any staffing needs for events.
- Ensures all equipment needed for events are readily available and equipment necessary (tables, tents, etc.) is set up and ready for
- the event.
- Posts notices on social media.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
