Minimum Qualifications
- At least 21 years old at time of application.
- Possess a valid Louisiana Driver's License at the time of appointment.
- Have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency.
- Have completed a Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) course.
- Have a current Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certification and at least one year of experience as a P.O.S.T. certified law enforcement officer in a full-time position.
- Must pass a physical examination and physical fitness test. To be eligible for employment, applicants must successfully pass a Physical Condition Assessment. This assessment includes three components: push-ups, sit-ups, and a 1.5-mile run for time. Applicants are evaluated according to Cooper's Standards for Law Enforcement Personnel, which are attached.
- Responsible for ensuring the safety of the Capitol Complex by enforcing relevant laws, House Rules, Senate Rules, Joint Rules, etc.
- Involves: Crime prevention, incident response, collaboration, and routine patrols and monitoring.
- Report all incidences, accidents, occurrences or threats.
- Carry out all other duties assigned by the Special Ops Supervisor, Deputy Director, Director of Capitol Security, the Speaker of the House, or the Senate President.
