Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:
Three years of experience or training in the locksmithing trade.

Function Of Work
To independently repair and install locks and related specialized equipment.
Level Of Work
Advanced.
Supervision Received
General from a Foreman or superintendent.
Supervision Exercised
Functional over subordinate Locksmiths.
Location of Work:
May be used by all state agencies.
Job Distinctions
Differs from Locksmith by the performance of complex, difficult and specialized assignments (large safe locks, electronic or mechanical anti-intrusion devices, etc.).
Differs from supervisory classes by lack of responsibility for assigning and inspecting work and for instructing subordinates.
Examples of Work
Opens large safe locks by turning dial and listening to the sound of tumbler or by drilling through the lock.
Reads schematics and disarms electronic or mechanical anti- intrusion devices.
Functions as consultant to management.
Requisitions and stocks parts.
Reads blueprints.
Performs the duties of a Locksmith.
