About This Position
The position develops and implements an ongoing strategic, public relations plan for the State Library and for Louisiana libraries in general, including developing long and short term goals and objectives based on the successes and challenges of the State Library and Louisiana public libraries. Position is responsible for identifying and promoting the activities of the State and public libraries; effectively communicating the value of the activities and actual and potential beneficiaries/audiences; reinforcing the library as an essential and effective service provider to targeted audiences; addressing issues that are controversial or may have a negative impact on the libraries' ability to meet their mission and objectives. Responsible for creating and maintaining a positive, modern image of libraries in Louisiana, especially the State Library. Communicates with libraries, library trustees, government agencies, media outlets, general public, etc. on a local, statewide, and potentially, national level.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Seven years of experience in public relations, journalism, marketing, content creation, social media management, or graphic design; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus four years of experience in public relations, journalism, marketing, content creation, social media management, or graphic design; OR
A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in public relations, journalism, marketing, content creation, social media management, or graphic design; OR
An advanced degree in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, or English plus three years of experience in public relations, journalism, marketing, content creation, social media management, or graphic design.
Experience Substitution
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
