Job Responsibilities:
Assistant Clocker is responsible for taking official timings of the distances worked by horses during morning training sessions. The timings can be used by the Stewards or Veterinarians if the horse needs to have an official published workout prior to racing. The timings can also be used as a tool in handicapping the races.
Specific Duties:
- Maintain contact with EMTs, Outrider(s), and Track Crew personnel
- Alert track personnel of loose horse(s) or accidents
- Take phone calls from trainers
- Positively identify horses to be timed
- Operate several stopwatches simultaneously
- Record and document official workout information
- Input official workout information into national database
- Share pertinent information with Stewards and Veterinarians
Confidentiality Requirements:
- Assists handles, safeguards, and maintains records and documents that are often sensitive in nature and thus is required to maintain confidentiality at all times.

- Must have excellent timing and hand-eye coordination
- Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must have strong organizational skills
- Must be team-oriented
- Must be able to work successfully with a variety of personality styles
- Must be able to perform various functions essential to racing operations
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED or related work experience preferred.
- Must have extensive experience working closely around racehorses
- Required Racing License
