The Economic Competitiveness Team leads LED’s efforts to position Louisiana to win and ensure sustainable growth for generations to come. The Economic Competitiveness team analyzes economic trends, and works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to foster an environment conducive to innovation, investment, and job creation.
The Economic Competitiveness team role at Louisiana Economic Development involves:
- Benchmarking and researching best-in-class economic development policies and processes across the United States, and beyond;
- Developing initiatives and strategic plans for improving Louisiana’s competitiveness in economic policies and processes, fostering growth in high-impact industries, and delivering projects and investments that enhance Louisiana’s competitiveness; and,
- Initiating implementation of the above
The Policy Project Manager will help shape Louisiana’s long-term economic development strategy and develop measures that realize LED’s objectives. The Policy Project Manager will be tasked with identifying, developing and implementing policies and programs that improve upon and build a sustainable competitive advantage. The Policy Project Manager will play an active role in monitoring and engaging on federal and state legislation and its potential impact on economic development in Louisiana. The Manager must also have demonstrated experience with policy improvement strategies and demonstrate excellent leadership and collaboration skills.
To be successful in this role, an analytical mind and outstanding presentation skills should be qualities the individual possesses. The ideal candidate will have an interest in economic development, experience in researching and analyzing policies, and the ability to synthesize complex information into understandable and presentable facts.
Job Responsibilities:
- Planning, implementing and managing proposed recommendations and projects
- Presenting findings, projections and recommended actions
- Track federal legislation and make recommendations on strategy and engagement
- Managing, monitoring and reporting on projects
- Supporting the development of a short-term and long-range competitiveness strategy
- Assessing industry trends and competitors
- Supporting senior executive decision-making processes
Work Experience
Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in public administration, business, political science or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in public or business administration, economic development, policy management, management consulting or strategic planning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to work collaboratively and build relationships, with both internal and external stakeholders
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions
- Ability to work under time pressure, while maintaining excellent attention to detail
- Working knowledge of political/government processes
- Ability to represent the department externally at in-person meetings with a variety of stakeholders.
- Excellent computer proficiency, particularly with spreadsheet (Excel) and presentation (PowerPoint) development
- Comfortable communicating with both technical and non-technical collaborators
Salary : $103,700 - $111,900
