Description
The Finance Director will provide accounting and financial control work for the Finance Department.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversees capital assets projects, ensuring the organization’s goals are being met.
- Compiles fiscal estimates and prepares fiscal reports as requested.
- Ensures compliance with accounting procedures through observation, supervision, and testing.
- Lead and supervise finance department staff on accounting, reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and other financial matters.
- Investigate variances in budgets, reporting, internal controls, and general accounting; deploy measures to resolve variances.
- Develops procedures that ensure collections are complete and current.
- Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash.
- Review bank and investment account reconciliations.
- Review monthly results and implement monthly variance reporting.
- Oversee the bookkeeping function, including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Collaborate with the executive team to develop cost budgets for all operational aspects of the organization; manage project budgets, forecasts, and long-term strategic plans.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of the organization’s applicable financial practices and procedures and a thorough understanding of state and federal rules and regulations.
- Proficient with accounting software and standard office and accounting equipment.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA designation highly preferred.
- Five years of management experience in finance with a similar organization or with a major CPA firm.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
