Summary of Responsibilities:
Responsible for receiving requests to schedule procedures from physician offices and schedule the procedure according to established guidelines. Position requires good understanding of ophthalmic practice and insurance coverage, considerable attention to detail, ability to communicate with patients, surgeons, coworkers and supervisors and a willingness to help in all areas.
Essential Functions:
· Working up surgery charts
· Obtaining medical clearance for patients
· Ordering necessary drugs and/or instruments for surgery
· Ensuring proper diagnosis is in patient charts
· Strong communication skills to:
o Effectively communicate with patients with reminders
o Request copies from PCPs of medical clearances
o Scheduling post op appointments
· Calculating lenses for cataract surgery
· Coordinating with referring Optometrists for post operative appointments

Minimum Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Background Requirements:
· Previous experience or training in this or a similar position.
· 2 years in Medical Practice Experience highly preferred.
· Ophthalmology practice experience preferred.
Physical Demands:
Long periods of sitting. May require walking or standing for periods of time.
