The Accounting Intern will assist with, the general duties of an Accountant on BCBSLA’s Financial Reporting team, as follows:
Assists with journal entries into various general ledger accounts to adequately reflect appropriate account balances.
Assist with reconciling general ledger accounts to identify and resolve differences.
Aid team in examining, analyzing, and interpreting accounting records for the purpose of preparing statements.
Assist with other projects and assignments as it related to financial reporting.
Degree program(s) / Current Status: Junior or Senior Undergraduate level student or recent in Accounting, Finance, or related fields of study.
Cumulative GPA: 3.0 preferred; 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA.
Relevant Experience: Experience accounting and finance courses required Demonstrated aptitude for understanding processes and financial and accounting terms. Experience with PeopleSoft or other financial system is preferred.
Other Qualifications:
Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication abilities.
Must demonstrate the ability to think analytically and present ideas professionally.
Self-motivated, adaptable to a changing work environment and team-oriented.
Undergraduates must be able to work 20 hours per week during the spring and fall semesters and 30-35 hours per week during the summer.
Must be able to commit to 12 month internship
