We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with varying needs in a group home or home care setting. Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to individuals in a group home or nursing home setting, focusing on their personal care and daily living activities.
- Assist clients with meal preparation, ensuring nutritional needs are met while accommodating dietary restrictions.
- Support clients in maintaining their hygiene and personal grooming routines.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
- Administer basic first aid and CPR as needed, ensuring the health and safety of all individuals under your care.
- Assist with mobility and transportation needs, including accompanying clients to appointments or community outings.
- Document client progress and any changes in behavior or health status accurately and timely.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to develop personalized care plans that address individual needs.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the overall well-being of clients.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a group home, nursing home, or similar direct support role is preferred.
- Knowledge of meal preparation techniques and dietary considerations is beneficial.
- Certification in CPR is highly desirable; training may be provided if not currently certified.
- Experience in dementia care or assisting individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others achieve independence.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Must pass background checks as required by state regulations.
