Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform thorough head-to-toe assessments and reassessments for patients of all ages, including pediatric, geriatric, and general populations, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Accurately assess and manage pain, employing appropriate techniques and educating patients and families about pain management.
- Deliver patient care tailored to individual age-specific needs, demonstrating a strong understanding of medication administration and safety practices.
- Follow the five rights of medication administration to minimize errors and adjust care plans based on patient responses and daily evaluations.
- Develop and implement teaching plans to address patient and family learning needs, assessing the effectiveness of education and including family members as appropriate.
- Assist physicians with procedures and perform technical and manual tasks as directed by a Registered Nurse.
- Provide respectful, dignified care that addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs, involving patients and families in the care planning process.
- Collaborate with Social Services and Discharge Planners to address both in-hospital and post-discharge needs.
- Utilize knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care and interpret data to meet specific patient needs.
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to patient safety protocols and minimizing the risk of medical errors.
- Supervise and coordinate patient care in collaboration with a Registered Nurse, consulting with other departments as needed for an interdisciplinary approach.
- Communicate clearly with team members, including Team Leaders, co-workers, and physicians.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation standards and policies, responding effectively in emergencies and distressful situations.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships within and across departments.

- Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly, and perform any additional duties within the LPN scope of practice as assigned.

- Engage in Professional Development: Timely complete in-services, attend annual reviews and department in-services, and participate in at least 75% of staff meetings annually. Review and respond to all monthly staff meeting minutes.

- Adhere to Ethical Practices: Follow all organizational policies related to ethical business practices and communicate the hospital's mission, ethics, and departmental focus effectively.
- Educational Background: Graduate of an accredited LPN Program.
- Licensure: Hold current LPN licensure in the state of Louisiana.
- Certifications: Possess current BCLS certification.
- Experience: Minimum of six months to one year of relevant work experience.
