Job Description:
The Assistant Dean of Operations and Administration provides leadership and strategic oversight for the LSU Graduate School. This role will manage daily operations, policy implementation, and communication between key stakeholders. The Assistant Dean will handle confidential matters, guide human resources functions, and support leadership in staffing, workforce planning, and organizational structure. Additionally, the role ensures efficient facilities management and compliance with relevant standards, while overseeing data collection and reporting to support decision-making and institutional goals.
Job Responsibilities:
Administration:
Exercises delegated authority in handling operational matters, including day-to-day operations, policy enforcement, and oversight of professional administrative processes to ensure the Dean's executive office functions optimally. Plays a critical role in defining and prioritizing the allocation of the Dean’s time, serving as the primary conduit for communication between trustees, faculty, students, staff, and the Dean. Independently handles a high level of confidential and sensitive concerns on behalf of the Dean. 30%
Personnel Management:
Provides overall leadership for the College’s human resources functions, collaborating with HRM, HR Analysts, and other departments to manage personnel actions, policies, and talent management initiatives. Assists the Dean in establishing and maintaining faculty hiring models, managing the faculty and staff raise process, and overseeing the Promotion & Tenure process. Serves as the primary liaison between the Graduate School and campus departments such as ITS and the Office of Communications to ensure seamless collaboration and fulfillment of the Graduate School's technology and communication needs. 25%
Strategic Advisor:
Serves as a strategic advisor to the Dean on staffing strategy, keeping the Dean informed on significant issues and resolution options. Provides strategic guidance on workforce planning, organizational structure, and staffing needs. This role will also monitor progress on key initiatives, ensuring timely completion of goals and proper allocation of resources. 20%
Facility Oversight:
Oversees the College’s facilities and building operations to ensure safe, functional, and efficient spaces that align with academic and administrative goals. Manages maintenance, renovations, space allocation, and facility-related budgets, ensuring compliance with safety, accessibility, and sustainability standards. Serves as the primary contact for building operations, addressing maintenance, security, and emergency preparedness issues. 15%
Data and Compliance:
Data collection, analysis and report preparation for faculty numbers, attrition, tenure track, and new hires, Advises as needed on policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure alignment with institutional goals and regulatory requirements. 5%

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 7 years of related experience
