Director of Research Communications
About the Role:
The Director of Research Communications will lead the strategic communications plan and its execution to influence key audiences for the value and impact of LSU's research efforts. This includes leading a team of professionals in developing and executing a comprehensive suite of engaging marketing and communications tactics designed to reach and influence AAU, state and federal government officials, key industry partners, and targeted media.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Develop a five-year strategic communications and marketing plan focused on educating and influencing our identified target audiences on our goals and progress on becoming a Top 50 Research University.
2. Organize and partner with on-campus research and academic leaders to develop a system-wide effort that clearly outlines and executes a comprehensive but solitary voice on our research endeavors and accomplishments.
3. Outline, develop, and execute a full suite of engaging marketing and communications tactics designed to reach and influence our most important audiences, including comprehensive web strategy, channel-specific social media strategy, content development strategy, digital communications, print communications, and promotion of on- and off-campus research events and speakers.
4. Build strong partnerships at all levels, inspire and convene cross-functional teams, and lead by example to drive a shared vision and foster alignment across a traditionally siloed university environment.
5. Cultivate a culture of collaboration and leadership that advances LSU's research reputation through promoting innovation, open communication, and strategic focus.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's Degree
2. At least 7 years of relevant experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
3. Proven ability to communicate complex topics in terms that are easy to understand and read, as well as successfully execute strategic communications.
4. Excellent critical thinking, personnel interaction, working relationships, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills.
