Job Description:
The IT Consultant is responsible for supporting the Coastal Emergency Risks Assessment (CERA) real-time storm surge system. In this context the candidate will develop and maintain data science frameworks which support different application domains, mentoring staff and students as directed, writing and dissemination of research results, and writing and preparing research proposals for the solicitation of funding.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze data science and AI algorithms for CERA, apply AI technologies to coastal science and other application domains. (30%)
- Perform research in high-performance software systems area working closely with HPC and data science/AI applications. Develop a research program in the area of data science, including high-performance computing systems, machine learning, advanced statistics, artificial intelligence techniques, deep learning, data mining, and real-time data analysis. Develop an in-depth understanding of advanced data science algorithms. (30%)
- Identifying, engaging, and working with application communities, both on and off the LSU campus, on the development and deployment of application frameworks. Assist in management of other CCT projects. (20%)
- Securing funding via strategic proposal preparation and dissemination including: writing and preparation of research papers and proposals; preparing and delivering conference talks, seminars, and tutorials; attending national and international project meetings, workshops, and conferences; developing and preparing demonstrations. (10%)
- Other duties as assigned. (10%)
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
