Job Description:
The Learning and Development Specialist will support the Director of Learning and Development for the Division of Engagement, Civil Rights & Title IX in designing, implementing, and evaluating learning programs. This role focuses on enhancing engagement and knowledge-sharing across the LSU system. The Specialist will collaborate with internal and external teams to support learning initiatives, encourage intellectual growth, and exchange varied perspectives. The Learning and Development Specialist will be integral to increasing engagement and positively impacting the LSU community.
Job Responsibilities
30% - Assist in the development and delivery of learning and training programs related to engagement, Civil Rights, and Title IX. Ensure programs align with institutional goals and cultivate a positive and supportive environment. Contribute to creating a robust train-the-trainer system for campus-wide implementation.
25% - Collaborate with subject-matter/content experts to develop digital training materials, workshops, and other learning resources. Deliver in-person and virtual professional development sessions, ensuring effective knowledge transfer to various audiences.
20% - Stay updated on current trends and best practices in learning and development. Assist in identifying innovative solutions to improve learning programs, ensuring that they are data-driven and outcome-focused.
10% - Work with faculty, staff, and external partners to assess learning needs and provide tailored development solutions. Offer recommendations to enhance systems and processes that improve institutional learning outcomes.
10% - Track and report on the effectiveness of learning programs. Analyze participation data and gather feedback to improve program delivery and outcomes continuously.
5% - Other duties as assigned
Additional Requirements:
FERPA -As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's
Specific Degree: Learning and development, instructional design, or a similar role.
Years of Experience: Two Years
Specific Experience: Demonstrated experience designing and developing instructional materials, including digital training resources, workshops, and e-learning courses, grounded in adult learning principles. Experience facilitating training programs for various audiences, incorporating best practices in adult learning theory to ensure effective engagement and retention. Familiarity with engagement programming and civil rights compliance initiatives.
