The Student Support Coordinator assists with day-to-day activities of the College of Engineering student programs.
Job Responsibilities:
40% Coordinates and serves as main point of contact for several extracurricular COE student programs, such as the Big Sibling program, Engineering Tiger Connections, and the Bridge to Engineering Excellence math boot camp
30% Serves as staff advisor for 2-3 engineering student organizations (e.g. SWE, NSBE) to provide guidance and support for their executive boards, including:
- ensuring compliance with LSU Campus Life policies and LSU Foundation (regarding donations and expenditures)
- providing conflict resolution and leadership training for student officers and committee chairs
- assisting with planning large annual events such as WISE (Women Impacting Style Event), banquets, and conference travel
20% Collaborate with Director to facilitate scholarship-based programs (such as ExxonMobil Scholars and Chevron Leadership Academy), with duties including student selection, interviews, workshops, and report preparation
5% Assist with data collection and program assessments; maintain program documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness
5% Assist with the Chevron Center for Engineering Education studio operations, COE recruiting and outreach events, commencement, and other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with one year of experience in organizing and executing STEM educational programs for students.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree with two to five years of experience coordinating student programs at an institute of higher education; K-12 or university teaching experience; exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Minor Contact - This position and/or position's responsibilities require work directly with minors. Finger printing and National Sex Offender Registry check required per FASOP HR-04.
FERPA - As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
