The College of Engineering and Science (COES) at Louisiana Tech University is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Coordinator of Building, Events, and Culture in the college. The College offers 13 undergraduate engineering and science programs for approximately 3,100 undergraduate students. See the College website for more information: http://coes.latech.edu. This position will support the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies office and the Integrated Engineering and Science Building, the primary academic building for COES. Expected position duties and functions include:
- Schedule IESB facilities for College, University, and outside organizations.
- Maintain weekly and monthly facility activities calendar; update calendar as required.
- Recommends to supervisor approval or denial of facility use for specific events after evaluating request.
- Assist COES faculty/staff in coordinating catering with Aramark and explaining college and university policies and procedures associated with events at the IESB.
- Serves as a logistical resource to those scheduling and planning events in IESB and oversees all aspects of facility operations related to events.
- Maintains IESB inventory of equipment according to University policies and procedures.
- Serve as IESB point of contact for building maintenance and repair requests.
- Hire and supervise IESB student workers including but not limited to scheduling and training.
- Conduct pre and post event inspections ensuring the facilities and grounds are kept clean and in good condition working with the appropriate parties to address any concerns.
- Order, stock, and maintain supplies for IESB events and classroom use.
- Promote culture within COES among students, staff, and faculty

- Excellent skills in organization and time management in order to coordinate multiple events simultaneously.
- Ability to initiate, plan, and accomplish projects with little supervision.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting with the UGS staff.
- Ability to lift tables and chairs may be required to assist in event set-ups and take-downs.
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to function with a high level of attention to detail. Punctual and trustworthy
- €“ arriving and performing duties in a timely manner.
- Ability to work professionally under pressure with ease and composure.
- Ability to work under limited supervision and to interact with all levels of staff, administration, students, and faculty.
- Ability to work irregular hours that may vary due to some functions and events. May include days, evenings and weekends occasionally.
- Experience or ability to learn to operate basic audio/visual equipment.
Essential qualifications and skills required are a BS degree, proficiency in PC platform, and use of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and Google Apps. Excellent customer service skills, ability to work with all types of people, ability to multi-task and prioritize activities, ability to communicate professionally, with clarity and brevity (both orally and in writing), flexibility and the ability to complete assigned projects, team player with positive outlook on making an impact on others€™ lives, and competent computer/technical skills. Expected salary of $37,000.
