Louisiana Tech University is seeking applicants for the position of Student Success Advisor. This full-time, 12-month role will be at the Academic Success Center in Bossier City, Louisiana. The primary responsibility of the Student Success Advisor is to support online and transfer students with academic planning, conduct student assessments, monitor academic progress towards completion, and ensure the accuracy of student records. Furthermore, the Student Success Advisor will be the main point of contact for program initiatives spearheaded by the academic unit. This position reports directly to the Director of Online Learning Initiatives and the Academic Success Center.
Responsibilities:
- Work with students to set achievable educational goals and suggest relevant majors, minors, and career options that align with those goals.
- The role involves continuously monitoring assigned student cohorts' academic progress through diligent academic planning, careful case management, and thoughtful course recommendations. Additionally, the Student Success Advisor will conduct a comprehensive review of system records to assess each student's progression toward successfully completing their degree requirements.
- Conduct a thorough review and discussion of evaluated transcripts to determine the applicability of transfer credit. Proper approval must be obtained from the relevant academic departments.
- Creates and maintains updated relevant records/notes. (e.g., student contact, advisor notes, internal reports.)
- Create a warm and supportive mentoring relationship with assigned students. Help them navigate quarterly registration and stay in touch regularly throughout the term to keep them motivated and on track.
- Maintain connections with faculty and staff across campus, especially the BARC, Career Center, Disability Services, Financial Aid, Library, Registrar's Office, Testing Services, Undergraduate and Graduate School, and other offices.
- The Student Success Advisor serves all students inquiring about our programs, including prospective and current individuals. The advisor provides course recommendations to students seeking academic guidance, facilitates student programming to enhance student success, and ensures adherence to the University's policies and procedures as they relate to our advisory responsibilities.
- Present or participate in departmental meetings, educational workshops, program initiatives, student engagement, and community outreach efforts.
- Support students in navigating challenges related to their degree programs, policies, and procedures, ensuring they feel empowered and informed at every step.
- Monitor and stay current on applicable laws, policies, and procedures (e.g., FERPA).
- The position will require occasional night and weekend hours.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: A bachelor's degree accompanied by a minimum of two years of pertinent experience in academic advising, retention strategies, and student support services is required. A review will include those applicants with a bachelor's degree and verifiable recent expertise in educational support activities.
- Adept in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with Canvas, Workday, and CRM systems is an added advantage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Candidates must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and mindful of deadlines.
- Collaborating effectively with faculty and support staff across campus is also required.
