- Employee will be knowledgeable of and follow all safety rules, procedures, and practices.
- Employee acting in conjunction with supervision or individually as directed by supervision will assist and/or direct the training of other employees in the correct operating procedures necessary to fully satisfy the classification duties of Laboratory Assistant and all lower classifications within the subject line of progression or other duties with which the employee is familiar.
- Employee will, when directed by supervision, report to assigned locations for the purpose of receiving training and will actively participate in the training activities.
- Employee will carry out assignments in training for and/or performing fire fighting and first aid.
- Employee will exhibit an adequate competency level pertaining to activities delineated in the Duties and Qualifications sections of this job Demonstrate such competency via performance of job duties and training and testing programs administered at intervals prescribed by Louisville Gas and Electric to assure correct classification of employees.
- Employee will, during the normal performance of his duties, watch for and promptly report to supervision any damaged or defective equipment or conditions which may cause damage or injury.
- Employee will perform duties of lower or higher classifications that are incidental to the job and are within his/her capabilities including those needed for the purpose of training in the requirements of the higher classifications.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
Duties which may include, but are not limited to:
- Employee will input test reports, analysis, etc. into the PIMS database as directed.
- Employee will procure and analyze samples of process water for and within steam generators.
- Employee will procure and analyze samples of miscellaneous water sources including: river, ash ponds, cooling cycles, sewage, etc.
- Employee will prepare and analyze coal samples.
- Employee will procure and analyze samples of various substances associated with pollution control equipment, waste disposal systems, and as required for Environmental Protection Agency.
- Employee will as directed regenerate and/or trouble shoot water treatment system.
- Employee will report any irregularities to supervision and take necessary corrective action within capabilities.
- Employee will assist in preparation of required reports, preparing analytical reagents and other solutions

- Employee will as directed collaborate and trouble shoot as required automated systems i.e., on site silo analyzers, etc.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Employee must have at least 12 months experience as a Laboratory Trainee in Division 30 or the equivalent and have successfully completed all training and testing programs required in that classification.
- Employee must have knowledge of basic power plant operations.
- Employee must have knowledge of the Operating Card System.
- Employee must have a normal color vision acuity in addition to normal health and without impairment to the senses.
- Employee must have a working knowledge of arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and use of fractions and decimals.
- Employee must have some knowledge of chemistry as evidenced by satisfactory completion of a 2-year college chemistry or science degree.
- Employee must be alert to potential hazards and have quickness of mind and body to act in case of mishap.
- Employee must have a functioning sense of smell for flue gas, acids, etc.
