Summary Objective

The purpose of this position is to assist in the coordination and work of finance and accounting activities including annual budgets, annual audits, accounts payable/receivable, journal entries, general ledger, contracts billing, purchasing and allocations.

This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

  • Assist in oversight of the implementation of grant approvals, set-up and compliance with applicable requirements, audits and close-outs
  • Assists in the management of award routing, budgeting, account set- up, expenditure verifications, and reimbursement requests
  • Analyzes data, prepares forecasts and provides recommendation for grant budgets.
  • Processes bank transfers, prepares journal entries, reconciles accounts and generates reports.
  • Reviews and approves journal entries and ensures revenues and expenditures are properly entered into the computer system.
  • Prepares correspondence and documents and completes special projects.
  • Provides coordination and technical assistance for processing special revenue year-end closing and financial reporting adjustments to the funding sources.
  • Compiles, prepares and interprets extensive financial information.
  • Supports the fiscal department to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Provides technical assistance and instruction to resolve complex problems with funding streams, vendor accounts, billing or purchasing issues.
  • Assists with the preparation and processing of the monthly and quarterly admin and payroll allocations.
  • Reviews and evaluates budget requests and budget adjustment revisions and prepares recommendation and adjustments.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related discipline.
  • Four (4) years of finance, accounting, budget preparation, budget analysis or financial analysis experience and two (2) years of grant related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
