Summary Objective
The purpose of this position is to supervise administrative support services including customer service, payroll, training and personnel. Evaluates programs, procedures, and recommends modifications.
This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
- Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
- Interviews applicants; and schedules medical examinations for new employees.
- Contacts applicant's former employers to verify employment information; and requests and reviews applicants' criminal record and character references.
- Manages the processing of personnel forms, correspondence, records and documents.
- Reviews program policies and procedures for effectiveness, compliance to standards and regulations and recommends changes.
- Determines training needs assessments and develops and conducts training programs.
- Collects and analyzes information and prepares and submits reports.
- Represents the department to the public to provide information concerning programs and operations.
• Organizes and coordinates programs. • Interprets, explains, and enforces regulations, policies, procedures and renders decisions.
- Enforces safety procedures to ensure safe operation of equipment and employee safety.
- Attends meetings to disseminate information concerning public works operations and projects.
- Consults with subordinates and managers to discuss problems, procedures, and work assignment progress.
- Coordinates work projects and activities with other departmental personnel.
- Assists with purchasing, budget, budget preparation, and prepares reports.
- Coordinates dispatch and administrative support for Snow Operations and Emergency Events.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Public Administration, Education or related discipline.
- Three (3) years of office administration, complaint resolution, customer service or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
- Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
