What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Coordinator position at Louisville Metro Government?
Coordinates the development of air pollution attainment and maintenance strategies and action plans required by state and federal environmental protection agencies
Analyzes and interprets air pollution data, and prepares scientific statistical and narrative reportsUNDER ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISION
Assists in budget preparation and monitors and controls expenditures
Studies the feasibility of new programs, and innovative methods and measures used by other agencies for possible introduction and application to current programs
Analyzes computer model projections to recommend additional actions to reduce ozone levels and smog-forming emissions to acceptable margins and to adjust for seasonal high ozone levels and future growth of new sources of vehicle and industry emissions
Evaluates air quality standards and industry and vehicle emissions statistical data to revise programs and implement changes and new procedures to insure compliance with environmental and air pollution regulations and standards
Investigates and resolves complaints and grievances for businesses concerning state and local air pollution regulations
Coordinates air pollution data collection, computer modeling, data analysis and scientific report writing activities with other operational units, and provides technical assistance and advice
Prepares and submits scientific reports which summarize and explain the action plan for the attainment and maintenance of air quality standards and other air quality activities and operations
Attends meetings and communicates with regional planning, business, mass transit, planning and zoning, and state and federal environmental protection agencies to provide data concerning program impact on air quality and transportation strategic plans
Provides information and answers questions from community groups, businesses, and the public concerning federal, state and local environmental and air pollution standards and regulations
Strictly adheres to standard operating procedures and other technical guidelines
Performs related workBachelor's degree in Agriculture, Biological Science, Engineering, Environmental, Mathematics, Meteorology,Natural Science, Physical Science, Pre-Law, or a related field
Two years of environmental or natural resource: planning, research, enforcement, investigation, preservation, conservation or engineering experience
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must provide one's own source of transportation
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license

Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
