Summary Objective
The purpose of this position is to support collection, analysis and streamline productivity of data for Louisville Metro Public Health & Wellness Communicable Disease Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Functions need to be completed under supervision of the hiring manager.
- Develops scientific policies and perform activities and analysis related to public health informatics.
- Uses health and public health data to enhance delivery and drive innovation in Communicable Disease.
- Informs technology transformations, strategy, and mission services needed to reach goal.
- Provides support for Electronic Health Record implementation for various Communicable Diseases within the Public Health department, and identifies standards, policies, and procedures for use in agency’s informatics projects.
- Analyzes, integrates, and improves healthcare information systems within local public health departments that work with Communicable Disease.
- Selects software and vendor tools and defines the appropriate technical and analytic approach required.
- Provides project management for implementation of new IT program platforms within Communicable Disease and identifies appropriate resources, data sources and collection methods for quality projects.
- Leads the development of a strategic public health informatics plan for organization.
- Designs, coordinates, and maintains public health informatics project goals, objectives, and priorities within the health department and in the public health community.
- Provides leadership in the development, testing, implementation and evaluation of scientific information technology and information systems needs and applicable software systems relating to public health informatics within the area of responsibility.
- Promotes the development, use and dissemination of information and information technology regarding health data systems, with an emphasis on public health applications.
- Plans and develops strategies for new models of health information interchange and automation in local public health.
- Performs related work as assigned
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree Biology, Environmental Health. Health Education, Industrial Hygiene. Public Administration, Public Health, or related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in working with project implementation, health informatics or public health experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Additional education or experience in Environmental Health Science, Biological Science, Environmental Engineering Technology or Public Health may substitute for experience or education.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
- Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
