Summary Objective
The purpose of this position is to plan, implement, audit, optimize and troubleshoot network security solutions and products.
This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Troubleshoots and debugs network related problems.
Maintains the network Security Infrastructure (SI) and the network backup systems.
Implements solutions on a wide variety of data network and data security elements.
Provides onsite and remote project support of network security, analysis and monitoring solutions, services and product.
Works efficiently with customer support team to solve customer issues.
Works with various customers to implement network security solutions primarily focused on security monitoring and policy enforcement solutions.
Provides hands-on configuration, deployment support, product training, and project management support.
Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications or related discipline.
Three (3) years of installing, configuring, administering, monitoring, and troubleshooting network security solutions and related monitoring tools experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check.
Must complete the annual security awareness training.
Must provide one's own source of transportation.
Must be on 24-hour call.
Must work a varied schedule.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
Must possess CompTIA-Security certification or obtain within one year of employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS (WORK ENVIRONMENT)
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
