Description
Essential Functions:
Assists patrons and completes special projects
Assists patrons with locating library materials and basic use of library resources
Provides high quality customer service
Examples of Duties
Examples of Work:
UNDER CLOSE SUPERVISION
Drives and works on Bookmobile
Registers new patrons
Sends materials to other libraries as requested
Schedules meetings and classes
Assists patrons with check-out of all formats of library materials including print, audio-visual and electronic
Processes returns and reserves
Collects fines for overdue materials, makes change, processes credit card transactions, counts money and reconciles daily money transactions
Opens and processes library material shipments
Answers questions and assists patrons using library materials, resources and technology
Assists with promoting library resources and programs
Assists with library programs, events and outreach in the community
Orders supplies
Performs Library Page L/U duties as required
Performs related work
Minimum Requirements
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
Communicates with individuals in person and utilizes all types of communication media
Travels to various locations
Spends prolonged periods of time sitting, standing, walking, carrying, stooping, squatting and climbing
Reviews information in both print and electronic formats
Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 35 pounds
Operates office and computer equipment and other technology
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or the equivalent
Other Minimums:
Must provide one's own source of transportation
Must work a varied schedule
Proof of age required for persons under 18 years of age
Must hold appropriate certification from the State of Kentucky (KRS 171.250) within 30 days of employment
Equivalency:
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
KSA's:
Ability to operate and assist patrons with library resources and technologies
