Summary Objective
The purpose of this position is to engage in community outreach and relationship building with at-risk individuals and multiple stakeholders.
This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Builds relationships with high-risk persons in the focus area and acquaintances.
- Provides life coaching (by working to develop life plans) to address their individual risks and needs.
- Engages in conflict mediation and resolution in circumstances in which violence is likely, including possible retaliation.
- Provides education for modification of norms around identity and violence.
- Helps facilitate positive alternatives to violence through case management.
- Recruits and maintains a case management load of high-risk participants and works with them to reduce risks.
- Makes necessary connections to services, support, and opportunities (i.e., job programs, GED, and drug treatment) that lead to safety and success.
- Participates, as necessary, in organized responses to shootings.
- Works with the community, other outreach programs, and local law enforcement to gain information that may be helpful in preventing additional violence.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Social Science, Public Health or related discipline.
- Two (2) years of social work, psychology, counseling or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
