What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parks & Rec. Ambassador position at Louisville Metro Government?
The purpose of this position is to explain procedures, laws, codes and ordinances, and provide information to the public. Serves as liaison between Parks and the community by providing assistance to citizens filing complaints and seeking complaint resolution.
This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Inspects Parks for maintenance issues, safety hazards and homeless camps.
Inputs reports to 311 for maintenance issues and tracks all reported items.
Acts as liaison between Parks and the community by reporting citizens’ complaints, determining solutions, and resolves problems and issues.
Attends community meetings to provide information, answer questions, discuss citizens' complaints, concerns, and issues, and to explain procedures and operations.
Researches and develops marketing, public education and awareness materials, literature, audio visuals and exhibits.
Assigns work tasks and reviews completed work.
Operates assigned vehicles.
Receives complex complaints from the public and recommends resolution to the administrative staff.
Attends training for professional development.
Disseminates information concerning programs, projects, operations, and services available to citizens.
Maintains a database of inquiries and generates reports.
Conducts information sharing programs to promote conflict resolution.
Contacts LMPD or Park Rangers if situations escalate or if any illicit activities occur.
Maintains official log documenting route(s), incident reports, problems, events, encounters, and other information to help identify and resolve problematic areas or other issues.
Offers the highest level of customer service both internally and externally Assists the special events Supervisor with event planning, staffing and delivery of event items and equipment as directed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
Two (2) years of public relations, community organizing, community service work or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS (WORK ENVIRONMENT)
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.

Travels to various locations.
Wears PPE (Personal protective equipment) as required.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
