Summary Objective
The purpose of this position is to supervise multiple grounds and facility maintenance work crews, including group and event management and workplace safety.

•Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
•Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
•Assists in budget preparation and monitors and controls expenditures.
•Interprets, explains and enforces regulations, policies and procedures and renders decisions.
•Enforces safety procedures to ensure safe operation of equipment and employee safety.
•Plans, organizes and evaluates grounds and facilities maintenance programs and operations for compliance to standards and regulations, and recommends modifications and improvements.
•Coordinates projects and activities with departments and contractors.
•Prepares and submits bid specifications and bid requests, and recommends procurement of materials, equipment, supplies and services.
•Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
•Bachelor’s Degree in Parks & Recreation, Landscaping, Horticulture or related discipline.
•Two (2) years of park or facilities management, landscaping, horticulture, forestry, or grounds maintenance experience, including one year of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
•Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS (WORK ENVIRONMENT)
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
•Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen.
Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions.
Extreme noise levels, Animals/wildlife.

Traffic; Moving machinery.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
•Pesticide Applicator’s License.
•Must possess and maintain a valid Class B commercial state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
