What are the responsibilities and job description for the PROMOTIONAL-Police Data Analyst position at Louisville Metro Government?
The purpose of this position is to collect data for analysis by end users to interpret patterns and trends. Support, create or modify computer applications programs and report formats.
Discusses computer programs, data summarization and report form output requirements, and recommends changes to improve format, use, efficiency and utilization of reports. Reviews purpose and content of reports to improve format and use. Prepares statistical reports and cost analysis on projects, grants, department programs or operations, or research findings. Generates and distributes computer reports and system status reports on department activity and operations for management purposes. Searches computer records and files to display or report information or to respond to inquiries for information. Researches computer manuals, periodicals and technical reports to develop computer programs and information systems to meet current and future user requirements, and conducts special projects. Coordinates with Metro computer professionals to obtain assistance in correcting system errors or notifies vendors to request service or repair. Communicates computer data storage, network and programming activities with computer professionals. Supports, creates or modifies computer applications programs and report formats. Creates and maintains data extraction for multiple sources and data structures for internal and external groups. Creates applications programs, database queries and extracts data from embedded websites for end user ad-hoc reporting. Performs related work as assigned.
Must be a current, regular employee of the Louisville Metro Police Department.
Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering Technology or related discipline.
One (1) year of programming or data system operations experience.
Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Other Minimum Requirements
Must be of good moral character, with no criminal or felony record inconsistent with the provisions of this paragraph. Unacceptable will be persons who have been convicted of a felony, or who have any criminal action pending against them.
An applicant may be disqualified for multiple misdemeanors, an unacceptable criminal record, or multiple traffic violations.
Must submit to a pre-employment drug screening.
Must submit to a pre-employment polygraph test.
Must be on 24-hour call.
Must submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check.

Physical Demands
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting.
up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
