What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Supervisor position at Louisville Metro Government?
The purpose of this position is to supervise and coordinate a recreational facility, including programs and activities.
This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
• Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
• Assists in budget preparation and monitors and controls expenditures.
• Calculates and processes employee payroll, accruals, conversions, and time and attendance records.
• Coordinates, plans, schedules, and implements recreational programs.
• Provides technical assistance and instruction concerning policies, procedures, and use of equipment and facilities.
• Prepares proposals for recreational supplies, equipment and activities.
• Develops and coordinates activities and recreation projects with committees, community agencies and the public.
• Coordinates facility maintenance and monitors security and cleanliness.
• Enforces safety procedures and staff certification to ensure the safe operation of equipment and employee safety.
• Solicits donations, contributions, support and participation from businesses, community agencies and groups to promote and implement events and activities in collaboration with Sr. Management.
• Prepares reports on program activities, and completes special projects.
• Assists participants with the activities of daily care, including hygiene, mobility, feeding, and toileting.
• Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Education of related discipline.
• One (1) year of recreation, physical fitness, education or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
• Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation of mechanical or electronic office or shop machines or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy.
UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS (WORK ENVIRONMENT)
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
• Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen.
Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions.
