What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Video Engineer position at Louisville Metro Government?
The purpose of this position is to serve as the subject matter expert for IP video services across all Louisville Metro agencies and to design, install, configure, and operate video system infrastructure.
This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Owns of the most complex video incidents.
Administers the video hardware inventory.
Develops strategies and priorities to ensure the maximum utilization of available video resources toward efficient and effective information processing to achieve goals and objectives and future needs.
Researches new video technology, hardware, software, components and peripheral equipment, and evaluates its cost effectiveness, and feasibility.
Coordinates between subcontractors, agencies, and private property owners for moves, adds, and changes.
Point of contact for time sensitive special event requests.
Sets priority for active customer projects.
Takes ownership of camera configurations and implements upgrade path and strategy for software patches and product updates.
Key advisor in backup and DR planning for video management systems.
Designs video solutions, including system diagrams, cost estimates, and support models.
Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering Technology, Liberal Arts, Physical Science, Public Administration, Social Science, Criminal Justice, or related field.
Five (5) years of networking, video management systems, or capacity planning experience in an IP video environment
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
Must be able to work at elevations up to 30 feet in a lift or bucket truck.
UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS (WORK ENVIRONMENT):
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Must be certified as a Genetec Certified System Designer or industry equivalent, or obtain within 6 months of hire date
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
