Essential Functions:
Plans and organizes social service program initiatives and special events
Assists in planning, promoting, disseminating information and developing resources with community agencies and groups
Refers clients to social service, legal, medical, mental health, and counseling providersExamples of Work:
UNDER ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISION
Represents the department to the public to coordinate, explain and discuss programs and services
Prepares program reports, and completes special projects
Coordinates programs and activities and maintains positive public relations with social service and community agencies
Plans and coordinates meeting agendas and speeches, recreational, educational and special event activities
Schedules and coordinates public relations activities and public service announcements
Gathers information concerning social service programs, projects, services and client statistics, and distributes literature and information to the media, community organizations and the public
Victim Advocate Program
Counsels individuals and their families in marital, domestic violence or crisis situations
Confers with legal, medical, mental health and social service agencies to assist individuals in resolving problems and to refer individuals for professional advice and counseling
Prepares investigations, case files and findings, and testifies in court
Researches publications to obtain current information or innovative methods and to meet the needs of clients
Performs related workPhysical Requirement & Working Conditions:
Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work.

Bachelor's degree

One year of social work, social service, community service, resource development, teaching or job training experience
Equivalency:
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
