Position Description
Louisville Seminary is seeking a full-time Instructional Designer & Learning Management System (LMS) Manager. The Instructional Designer & LMS Manager works collaboratively with our academic leadership, faculty, and staff to develop in-person and online courses. They also provide day-to-day support for faculty and students who use the institution's Learning Management System (LMS). Their responsibilities include technical support, troubleshooting, training, and general customer service.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in instructional design, proficiency in LMS administration, and a passion for creating effective learning solutions.

Responsibilities
Instructional Design:
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to analyze learning needs and objectives.
- Works with faculty to develop courses within the learning management system, including formatting and configuring text, images, assignments, assessments, and grade books.
- Ensure content is aligned with Student Learning Outcomes, assessment needs, and program objectives.
- Review existing courses to ensure compliance with course standards established by the institution.
- Design and develop high-quality instructional materials, including eLearning modules, videos, simulations, assessments, and other multimedia resources.
- Utilize instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and best practices to create engaging and interactive learning experiences.
- Create and deliver faculty development workshops and other activities in instructional design and the use of instructional technology.
- Oversee the administration of the Canvas LMS platform, including user management, course creation, and system configuration.
- Provide technical support and training to users, instructors, and administrators on Canvas functionality and best practices.
- Monitor Canvas performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements to optimize user experience.
- Stay current on Canvas features and updates to maximize the platform's effectiveness and efficiency.
- Provides technical support to faculty for Canvas and communicates regularly with instructors regarding quick tips and important information, assisting them in using the LMS, and troubleshooting issues that arise.
- Serve as back-up administrator for the Registrar’s Office.
- Serve on software evaluation taskforces.
- Serve on seminary committees as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of related experience OR a Master’s degree in Instructional Design.
- Proficient knowledge of the Canvas LMS system, including the ability to make edits and correct errors within courses is preferred. Proficiency in other systems is acceptable.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to communicate in a manner that allows technical information to flow freely and smoothly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new software quickly.
- Proven experience in instructional design, including curriculum development, eLearning design, and assessment creation.
- Strong technical skills, including knowledge of authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Canvas Studio) and multimedia production software (Camtasia).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty and students.
- Detail-oriented with strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Creative problem solver with a passion for continuous learning and professional development.
- Course work in a field related to the seminary’s educational mission is a plus, but not a requirement.
