What are the responsibilities and job description for the Priest/Chaplain/Lourdes Spiritual Care Services/PRN/Day Shift position at Lourdes Health?

Range: $22.03 - $30.84
Assist in providing for the spiritual and sacramental needs of patients, families, staff, and volunteers of Lourdes Health, including a focus on spiritual distress, grief, crisis intervention, and support during significant life changes. A critical attribute required of this position is exceptional interpersonal customer services consisting of an outgoing positive attitude, warm friendly joyful demeanor, and the utmost care and reverence for our guests, patients, families, and colleagues.
Essential Functions
- As a fully integrated member of the health care team with professional expertise in Spiritual Care, works alongside other care givers, responding specifically to the spiritual needs of those served.
- Develops, conducts, and participates in spiritual care programs and facilitates the inclusion of local faith leaders in the provision of Spiritual Care for their parishioners, as appropriate.
- Participates in ethics committee and end-of-life discussions and provides spiritual counseling and guidance to patients, families, and staff.
- Reports directly to the Director of Mission Integration.
- Participation in on-call service required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and requirements
- Education: Master’s Degree in Theology, Spirituality or equivalent preferred
- Population Specifics: Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the population served by Spiritual Care
- Experience: Completion of one (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education preferred and one (1) year of hospital experience as a Chaplain preferred.
- Certification: Certification by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains or other certifying agency preferred. Ecclesiastical Endorsement by a Catholic Bishop, Pastor or Religious Superior required for clergy or consecrated religious.
- Other: Catholic Chaplain preferred. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Ability to work with culturally diverse population. Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred. Computer skills required.
