Under medical direction and supervision of the Ancillary Services Director the staff therapist is responsible for providing all modes of respiratory therapeutic and diagnostic procedures and EKG services. Care is delivered within the framework of the Mission and Philosophy of the Health center which directs our relationships with patients,
visitors and fellow employees and recognize that healing is best accomplished when we meet the needs of body, mind and spirit. A critical attribute required of this position is exceptional interpersonal customer services consisting of an outgoing positive attitude, warm friendly joyful demeanor, and the utmost care and reverence for our guests, patients, families, customers and colleagues.
Essential Functions
- Delivers aerosolized respiratory medications utilizing IPPB, small volume nebulizers, Heart Nebulizers, and
- Metered dose inhalers.
- Oversees the safe administration of oxygen therapy utilizing deliver devices as outlined in Respiratory Care
- Assists the physician in maintaining long term artificial ventilation with mechanical ventilators.
- Obtains arterial blood gases.
- Provides support in C-Sections and complicated vaginal deliveries.
- Performs Pulmonary Function Testing.
- Functions as a permanent member of the code/trauma team.
- Performs 12 lead EKG.
- Assists physician with bronchoscopy procedures.
- Practices appropriate infection control techniques in all patient interactions.
- Exhibits teamwork in patient care.
- Acts independently without specific instructions, utilizing time and resources effectively.
- Demonstrates professional accountability.
Qualifications and requirements
- Associates degree- Required
- Graduate of a program in discipline, respiratory therapy- Required
- Bachelor's degree- Preferred
- Must have/obtain a current Washington State Respiratory Care Licensure with 30 days of hire
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the population of patients served in Cardiopulmonary Department
- Three (3) years’ of acute care and ICU experience preferred
- Must have/obtain a current American Heart Association BLS
- Current ACLS required
- National Board Respiratory Care Registry (NBRC) and Neonatal Resuscitation Certification preferred.
- Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred. Ability to work with culturally diverse population
