Salary Range: $16.66 - $18.42
The SUD Peer Specialist functions as part of the PATH team as someone who uses his or her experience of recovery from mental illness and/or addiction, plus skills learned in formal training, to deliver services in behavioral health settings to promote mind-body recovery and resilience. The SUD Peer Specialist functions as a fully integrated team member to conduct outreach to individuals either in local emergency rooms, or in living locations not meant for habitation in order to connect the homeless with resources. A critical attribute required of this position is exceptional interpersonal customer services consisting of an outgoing positive attitude, warm friendly joyful demeanor, and the utmost care and respect for our guests, patients, families, customers and colleagues.
EDUCATION
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Population Specifics: Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the consumers served by PATH.
- Experience: Self-identify as a recipient or survivor of substance use disorders services and/or mental health services, well grounded in recovery for at least one (1) year.
- Required Certification: Certified Washington State Peer Counselor within 12 months of employment in position or once the certification is available through Washington State. Agency Affiliated Counselor Certification must be applied for within 7 days of start date and must be obtained by the 60th day of employment (RCW 18.19.210).
- Required License: Must have/obtain valid Washington State Driver’s License with reliable personal transportation, and a minimum of Liability auto insurance.
- Other: Bilingual and/or English/Spanish-Speaking preferred. Experience assisting persons, who have experienced substance use disorders or mental health problems preferred. Must have sensitivity and ability to work with a culturally diverse population. Must have and maintain a cell phone to use for business purposes, as a monthly stipend will be provided to go towards a cell phone.
