- Assesses the needs of the patient and provide supplies, instruments, and equipment appropriate to the patient, surgeon, and procedure. @R
- Ensures the resources are available to implement the plan of care during the procedure.
- Demonstrates knowledge and technical skills appropriate to implement the step-by-step process of specific surgical procedures.
- Demonstrates appropriate communication skills in all aspects of the position.

NON-ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES
@R=at risk for exposure to blood borne pathogens
- Actively participates in committees to improve patient care
- Actively participates in additional assignments within the department
- Acts as mentor and preceptor for new personnel
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications and requirements
• Education: Graduate from accredited program for Surgical Technologist preferred.
• Population Specifics: Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the population of patients served in Surgical Services.
• Experience: Preferred: Minimum of one (1) year in a surgical setting.
• Required: Documented education in sterile technique and instrumentation appropriate to the procedures performed at Lourdes Medical Center.
• Required Certifications: Current Registered Surgical Technologist in Washington State. Current BLS Certification.
• Preferred Certifications: National Surgical Technologist Certification.
• Other: Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred. Ability to work with culturally diverse population.
