Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced On-Site Safety Manager/Inspector to oversee safety operations and ensure compliance with regulatory and company safety standards on utility-scale solar projects. This role is integral to creating a safe and compliant work environment, fostering a culture of safety, and minimizing risks on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety plans in alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and enforce corrective actions.
- Lead daily safety meetings and toolbox talks to ensure all workers are informed about potential risks and safety protocols.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety tools.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure site operations comply with OSHA standards, environmental regulations, and client-specific safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, training, and corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit safety performance reports to management and stakeholders.
- Incident Management:
- Investigate and document safety incidents, including near misses, to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Coordinate emergency response plans and ensure readiness in case of on-site emergencies.
- Training and Communication:
- Conduct safety orientation and training sessions for all site personnel, including contractors and subcontractors.
- Act as a liaison between site personnel, management, and regulatory agencies regarding safety concerns.
- Promote a positive safety culture by encouraging proactive identification and reporting of hazards.
- Risk Assessment:
- Perform job hazard analyses (JHAs) for all critical tasks and work areas.
- Monitor high-risk activities such as heavy equipment operation, electrical work, and elevated tasks to ensure safety compliance.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of safety management experience in construction, renewable energy, or related industries.
- Certifications:
- OSHA 30-Hour or 500 certification (required).
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) certification (preferred).
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, NFPA 70E, and other relevant safety regulations.
- Proficiency in incident investigation techniques and risk assessment methodologies.
- Familiarity with safety management software and reporting tools.
