Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. Responsibilities
- Provide direct support and assistance to clients in daily activities, including cooking, personal hygiene, and medication administration.
- Monitor clients' health and well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to appropriate personnel.
- Assist clients with mobility and heavy lifting as needed, ensuring safety and comfort during transitions.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, following HIPAA guidelines to protect their privacy.
- Engage clients in social and recreational activities to enhance their quality of life.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs.
- Document client progress and any incidents accurately in compliance with organizational policies.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in direct support roles such as assisted living, nursing home care, or hospice care is preferred.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and patient monitoring techniques is essential.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach to client care.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is a plus but not required at the time of hire; training will be provided.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
