What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing Assistance Coordinator position at Love In Action of the Tri-Cities?
Overview:
The HMC Coordinator’s core responsibility is to manage and facilitate assistance with housing costs through the Housing Ministry Collaborative, which is comprised of Love In Action and church partners. This individual will work alongside, manage and equip a team of specially trained volunteers to process and assess those needing assistance. The HMC Coordinator position is highly relational and proactively communicates regularly with those being served, landlords/mortgagees, church partners, outside agencies and the Director of Community Care.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Receive and process requests for assistance with rent, mortgage and utilities through HMC in accord with established processes
· Oversee and equip specially trained volunteers to serve as the primary facilitators of the HMC process; meet regularly, manage scheduling and provide training to volunteers in coordination with the Director of Community Care
· Respond to initial phone calls, email, and walk-in requests
· Connect with clients in person, over the phone or web; this includes emergent client needs
· Liaise with HMC church partners including providing updates, monthly reports and collaboratively-lead meetings
· Serve as the primary liaison with other departments, agency partners, landlords, churches and other agencies and make referrals as needed
· Collaborate with HMC team to update or establish processes as needed
· Serve as the primary liaison with clients, guiding them through the process and their next steps
· Conduct assessments and reviews to determine eligibility and approval for assistance; present pre-qualified cases to HMC review teams
· Present approved requests to church partners
· Request and monitor payments from ministry partners and Finance Manager as necessary for the completion of client assistance
· Maintain accurate database records and case files
· Maintain appropriate spreadsheets for tracking funding through the Collaborative and donor resources
· Prepare periodic reports for the Director of Community Care and the Collaborative
· Meet periodically with the Director of Community Care for goal-setting and accountability
· Collaborate with team members to ensure that the best resources and services are advised
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
· Open and close the department of Community Care as assigned
· Assist the Community Care Team with special projects and emergent client needs as needed
· Have a strong understanding of all roles under Community Care in order to provide backup to any necessary area of Community Care as directed
· Establish and build supportive, nurturing relationships with clients; ensure that those requiring assistance are valued and assisted in a timely manner
· Manage spreadsheets and be able to handle cash
· Encourage and pray with clients
· Attend and help facilitate trainings as assigned
· Promote the organization’s vision and mission

Hours and Compensation:
· This is a salaried position requiring at least 20 hours per week
· Bi-weekly pay schedule
· Paid Time Off according to the LIA Employee Handbook
· Eligible for Simple IRA after one year
