A Day in the Life as a Home Health Aide
Place of Employment :
Client's home, work outside of the client's home and other work sites as required by LoveBird HQ management.
Accountable to LoveBird HQ's Director, Administrator, Manager.
Job Summary :
The Home Health Aide takes care of clients who may be afflicted with an illness and / or disability; clients may also be the elderly who may need care - but in all these cases the clients are in their homes.
Responsibilities :
- Help patients with personal hygiene, dressing, bathing and other daily tasks.
- Records patient information by making entries in the patient journal and notifying the nursing supervisor of changing or unusual conditions.
- Perform basic health care services for patients including checking vital signs or administering prescription medication.
- Enables patients to stay in their homes by monitoring and recording patient condition, providing support and personal services, and teaching families.
- Help with general light housekeeping.
- Make transportation arrangements as needed.
- Work with a nurse, personal care aide, a CNA, nurse aide, nursing assistant, and other caregivers and in-home care professionals.
- Observe and report on patient condition.
- Keep up with in-service training.
