Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them achieve their personal goals and improve their quality of life. Your work will take place in various settings, including group homes and community environments, where you will foster independence and promote social inclusion.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each person's needs and preferences.
- Monitor the health and well-being of clients, ensuring compliance with care plans and reporting any changes to appropriate personnel.
- Facilitate social activities and community engagement opportunities to enhance social skills and promote inclusion.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided, adhering to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to clients, fostering a positive environment that promotes growth and independence.
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as nurses and social workers, to ensure comprehensive care for clients.
Skills
- Experience in senior care or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of long-term care practices and the ability to create effective care plans.
- Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques and first aid procedures.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain client confidentiality.
- A background in social work or related fields is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating initiative in providing direct support.

Pay: $17.50 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
