Responsibilities
Prior Authorization tech in the Endocrinology department, completes all insurance paperwork for patients to qualify for medications. Obtaining authorizations for glucose monitors, diabetic medication or other medications. Provides telephone triage, data entry and assistance to the Health Services Department in order to ensure quality customer service and exceptional quality management; receives, screens, manages, resolves and/or transfers calls; assists callers with questions and concerns.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Computer training (Word/Excel), Medical Terminology, working knowledge of CPT, HCPC, ICD-9 codes, and ACD telephone system
- (2) years experience in direct patient care at a medical office or facility.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Certified Medical Assistant
- Five (5) years experience in direct patient care at a medical office or facility and/or 2-5 yrs with a managed care organization
