Learn About a Day in the Life of a Monitor Technician:
Responsibilities
- Provide advanced ECG monitoring with a focus on assessment of ECG strips and arrhythmia interpretation.
- May also be responsible for monitoring of alerts from patient wearable devices to include escalation to a Virtual RN.
- Possess troubleshooting skills to recognize monitoring the problems, identify probable causes, and seek solutions to correct the problem.
- Identify and respond to potentially life-threatening rhythm changes, initiate codes, record rhythms during code, and continuous EKG monitoring with accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias and interval measurements.
- Appropriately responding to all monitor alarms.
- Must be able to manage multiple technology platforms and develop collaborative relationships with other staff via remote platforms.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must complete the cardiac monitoring exam.
- Demonstrate arrhythmia recognition.
- BLS certification
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Associate’s Degree in a related field
- One (1) year in specialty area, rhythm recognition skill set
